The Cancerians

Cancerians are usually dubbed as "the most emotional creatures" among the 12 astrological signs. I personally knew people born under this sign. My father is a cancerian so to speak though I wasn't given the chance to know him and be with him  that long (since he died when I was about 4 years of age), tell-tales from my mother revealed that my dad is an indeed emotional and sensitive person however, despite being senti, my mom told me that he is a protective, nurturing and loving dad. I can still remember vividly when my dad and I used to draw, he patiently teaches me how to make circles, and anything that I asked him to draw. My father is a great artist and a music lover (he has a great voice) (and I thank him for that, I was able to inherit his talent..hehe) Creativity and patience is one thing that a cancerian possess like my dad and I, On the other hand despite the positive attitude of a cancerian there are also negative traits that will surely puzzled people around them.

As the moon quickly changes his forms, so as do with the cancerians mood. You can notice a sudden shift of moods from a frowning face to a laughing one. Moreover  the change of moods will not affect the innate behavior or characteristics of a cancerians, just wait and see that after the sudden mood swing, the real cancerians will be back again. Make sure that you just  let them enjoy their longingness of being alone when they are in  solitude and after that, for sure they will be back as soon as the moon change its phase.

Despite the hard shell that they have, these individual are deeply soft inside. Both male and female cancers are both family oriented and are loyal with a motto of  "one man one woman" or rather "stick to one and die for it."

I'll be posting some information which I extracted and collated from different articles/sources regarding the crustacean crabs personality. I personally taught that understanding our traits will help us understand ourselves and understand others. It is helpful also that we were able to amend our negative behaviors so that we can get along with others harmoniously or even avoiding conflicts.

THE CRAB
The sign of Cancer (June 22 – July 22) has very little to do with that prickly crustacean, believe it or not. In fact, it’s hard to pin down exactly what constitutes the Cancer personality. The ancient Egyptians perceived Cancer as the sacred scarab. It was a symbol of resurrection and immortality and they often placed a carving of a scarab in the body where the heart had been, as part of the mummification process. In the Zodiac Great Year, the Age of Cancer fell between 8600 and 6450 BCE. It was a time characterized by the worship of mother goddesses. During this period alcohol fermentation was discovered and people began to use copper.
Cancers are very imaginative and intuitive. They make great artists and musicians. They’re not risk takers, and will take the time to contemplate all sorts of outcomes and probabilities before taking on a new venture. They’re very sympathetic and protective of those around them. They will help out in whatever way they can, although not impulsively and will temper their generosity with calculating all the risks first. They’re emotional and loving, and great family and pet people.

Cancer Personality
The Cancer personality can be cynical, pessimistic, worrying, crabby, grumpy, and ill at ease. Like the Taurus, many born under Cancer will find themselves in positions where their "negative" personality traits will be rewarded. They can be accountants, lawyers, investigators, soldiers, prison wardens, or other professions that involve a certain degree of negative thinking.
The Cancer Man
The Cancer man may enjoy competition, but he is not necessarily as determined to win as the Leo. For the Cancer man, the fun is not in winning, but in humiliating the opponent. The Cancer man can be a bully, a practical joker, or a fierce protector. His reliance on negative thinking may lead him to believe that approaching women will be futile, so the Cancer man is sometimes prone to shyness around the opposite sex.
The Cancer Woman
Many Cancer females fight like Cancer males, but others fight using the weapons of words. Some Cancer females are catty, enjoying gossip and rumors. They have long memories and do not forgive and forget easily. They enjoy getting respect, but will only give it to others if they deem them worthy of it.
Cancer's  Love
Cancer's traditional crabbiness can complicate romance. Someone with a fiery temper, like an Aries, or easily hurt feelings, like a Pisces, may initially clash with a Cancer, though once they understand that they should not take things too personally, the relationship can begin to work. The consideration of others and using kind language can be an effort for a Cancer, but it is an effort that they are willing to make if they know it means a lot to someone that they love.
The Cancer traits of pessimism can lead them in certain directions in which negative thinking is helpful, but it should not control the Cancer's entire worldview and lead to a dreary outlook on life. The Cancer's penchant for crabby behavior can complicate a romance, but if they are determined to make it work, they can learn to be kinder and more loving.
Cancer Male and Female in Love
As a water sign, Cancer is often emotional, dreamy and imaginative, enjoying the romance. Many are naturally charming and can attract others without being aware of it, which can result in some broken hearts. Although some Cancer individuals are sensitive they may be unsympathetic to other people's problems. Most Cancer individuals possess good intentions and never intentionally hurt others. A typical Cancer who feels insecure can be demanding and some may have a tendency to sulk.
An archetypal Cancer female in love is compassionate, faithful and tender. Cancer may take time to build trust before giving their hearts away easily. Once in love, she is a true romantic and will be sentimental treasuring memories from a lover. Cancer women may be vulnerable to criticism, so tread carefully if something needs to be addressed.
The typical Cancerian man also likes romance, though is often quicker to fall in love. The classic Cancer male enjoys daydreaming about the future and is likely to be a “one woman man” and will focus all his energies on her with plenty of attention and gifts. Negative traits of Cancer in love include jealousy, moodiness, and possessiveness.
Cancer Compatibility With Fire Signs
Cancer and Aries are very differing personalities and may lead to to a shaky union if Aries is not mindful of Cancer's sensitivity. Success here is possible if both are willing to understand each other. A Cancer and Leo match can work as the planetary combination of the moon and sun are compatible. If both can work together on their differences then a happy relationship can result. A Cancer and Sagittarius pairing can be difficult with two very different people with contrasting approaches to life. This is not generally a recommended match due to Sagittarius' traditional lack of fidelity and classic Cancer's emotional nature.
Cancer Compatibility With Earth Signs
Cancer and Taurus union can be compatible with Cancer taking care of Taurus and Taurus balancing Cancer soothing any disturbed emotions. This can be a very compatible match if Taurus can be sensitive to Cancer's moods. A Cancer/Virgo pairing can work well though arguments may arise from Virgo's critical behavior. A lasting partnership is possible with some effort and understanding. Capricorn and Cancer can work well together and could have similar interests. A successful relationship is likely if there is a stable home environment.
Cancer Compatibility With Air Signs
Gemini and Cancer can make a meaningful connection if they work to understand one another; combining emotion and intellect to make a balanced and loving union. Libra and Cancer may have few things in common and some astrologer suggest Cancer may not be emotionally suited to cope with Libra's roving eye. Cancer and Aquarius could quarrel as both may have conflicting tastes and ideas. Though it is an unadvisable match they could learn a lot from each other. Success could be gained if one partner is submissive and lets the other lead.
Cancer Compatibility With Water Signs
A union of two Cancer individuals could be wonderful or terrible. With two such emotional signs it could be difficult to keep peace. Yet romantic Cancer may form a joyful bond if they keep their emotions in check. Cancer and Scorpio have much in common, and if they manage to avoid bottling up bad feelings could form a wonderful relationship.
A Cancer and Pisces pairing is likely to be a creative and intuitive bond. Sharing similar emotional needs they are likely to form a long-lasting and satisfying match.
Cancer is probably most compatible with fellow water sign Pisces, and may share a deeply romantic, loving, and tender union. A match with Scorpio is also positive where they share many personality traits and easily understand one another. Connections with earth signs can work too, though fire and air signs are less likely to be good matches in love.

Cancers make good journalists, writers or politicians because of their ability to think and judge independently what they’re told. They’re good in public service, perhaps in social service agencies. Cancers are good providers because they themselves love comfort and a good life. Cancers can procrastinate and can upset their families with this trait. They’re not too good at taking orders, so positions where they’re required to be submissive or subordinate may not suit them well.

Famous Cancers comprise an interesting mix of accomplishments. They include the Duke of Windsor and Bob Fosse, Sylvester Stallone, the Dalai Lama, Robin Williams and Ernest Hemingway. The best partner for Cancer is Taurus, while the sign with the least potential for a harmonious relationship with Cancer is Aries.

In General: Cancer (the crab) is one of the most difficult zodiac signs to understand. Cancers can have many different personalities. Most cancers like to be at their home, and enjoy large families. You seem unsociable to some people, but you enjoy chatting and gossiping as much as anyone else. You tend to day-dream very often and can be found in a state of fantasy. You enjoy art, writing, and drama, but acting may not be a good career for you because of your tendency to Overact. Cancer is the sign most likely to believe in the zodiac, as well as other psychic happenings. You make a loyal friend and also very patriotic.

Just Give me a Reason...This song moves me

I cannot really think as of this moment about this paper that I am reading…. My mind was cluttered by the words which I cannot comprehend and fathom with…so, after hours of staring in my computer, and after blinking hundred times, I decided to shut it down. Good thing that I have my journal with me, so I get my pen and write something and anything that goes my head.

I was moved by a song titled Just Give me a Reason by Pink…the beat and the lyrics budge me undeniably. It is indeed true…Some of us may think “we are broken” after we lost someone we dearly love like losing our parents, our first love and so on…or anything that may hurt us. These are the times when we think regrets is our fallback and the "what if" notions is our excuse. Listening to this songs makes me feel a bit of guilty and upset…mixed emotions I should say but somehow it is relieving…yes relieving that I was able to bring out my sentiments.

Pink is right, I realized that I am not “broken” (torn to pieces either?), I’m just bent…yeah bent down …down to my knees for me to slow down a bit and learned what I missed in life. Sometimes learning begets hurting and vice-versa, God has way to show his love and guidance to us even if we need to learn the hardest way. Learning the hardest way is the most painful lesson a person may received but it is the most effective way to gain knowledge and wisdom so to speak. The way we can measure and test a person’s acumen and robustness are the numbers on how many trials/challenges that he/she surpasses. The strongest person to survive is the most experienced ones. People who undergone this kind of test are transform thru their words and actions…the way they perceived life and the way they value life. I considered myself as one of those people who was changed by tribulations and challenges. The pain…the losses and destitution I encountered are my sole mentor. Despite the big volumes that I shed for the past years, this won’t forbid me to pursue my dreams and my will to help and inspire others. The “light” that I created inside me throughout the years of solitude will never die…. Instead, it will rekindle the flames inside to create a bigger light.

Somehow I feel so emotional...I can’t help myself but to think of my parents, specially my mom, whom I recently lost. I just want to expressed my thoughts thru this blog how much I love her.  I will be forever grateful for the years that I have shared with her and with my dad of course… Though sometimes I failed her, and sometimes break her heart, I know deep in my heart that she never stops loving and understanding me and never turn her back against me. The love from a mother is immeasurable, infinite and overflowing.

What I really regret is that I kept myself busy and make my decisions always  in a rush and regretting in the end because of what I “MISSED” in my life. I am preoccupied and too busy at work, sometimes I compete with "TIME" so now, I regret those moments... I can still remember the movie “click”...the philosophical viewpoint of the movie really fits me…where you can fast forward the events  in our lives and in the end, you end up regretting and desperately wanting to rewind our past so that we can fill in or catch up what we missed. For me, 29 years is not enough to suffice the love and care that my mom has given to me unconditionally. I don’t know what keeps me being sentimental this past few months; maybe I just missed my mom and dad….the feeling of being alone…. The feeling of having no one to talk to when you are all alone in your room…God knows how I am deeply saddened by those moments, but having thought that life here on earth is just temporary consoles my heart for it means that these pains and this “void” feelings will ultimately be filled in…. In due time…IN HIS TIME rather…. But as for now, I have to move on with my life…continue with the people that I still have to love and cling with and make sure that I will never let myself again in a hurry so that I will not “missed” the times that I still have…

Though sometimes, I really feel the feeling of "being broken or shattered" however, the songs inspire me and keeps me reminded, that I am not BROKEN, I am just BENT, (to slow down) so I can learn to Love Again and move ahead....

as I sing some part of the song once more...

Just give me reason just a little bits enough,
Just a second were not broken, just bent
so we can learn to love again...

I never stopped, You're still written in the scars on my heart

You're not broken just bent so we can learn to love again...

Upon arrival we immediately visited some of the various places and even tried to have some fun in the streets as we take avenge of our complaining and grouching bellies for street foods which is located at the front side of Ateneo de Davao University. I almost forgot the things that we did then,  since I still don't have my travel journal with me to jot down those special moments with my friends. Here are some few pics from Davao  that i have rummage in my laptops after some viruses was able to penetrated my precious files...

Unleashing my thoughts: A "LIFE" to Live

Life for we all know contains a variety  of layers waiting to be unfold, before we unveils the inner “core” beauty of it. But before we reach that exquisite beauty on what we called “life”, one must go through each layer; A layer that changes every time we unfold one. As human being, we are “programmed” and “created” imperfectly that’s why we are prone on committing mistakes; mistakes that affect our very own self in unfolding those “layers” in LIFE. Those flaws and imperfections that engulfs within our body and soul makes us more vulnerable in determining our goals and choosing our values in life.

As I remember when I was a child, at a very young age of four (4) I used to dream of being a doctor, then afterwards it changes suddenly when I found myself wanting of becoming a lawyer and so on and so forth. My childhood days are full of  laughters  and dreams, because during those times I only have vague understanding of LIFE. The face of life for me before is so simple and basic… yet, so innocent, so naive  so ideal… and now, as I reached the age of 29 that changes all. It was transform into a much complicated web that was tangled through ill-circumstances where I see laughter  into grieves and dreams that slowly turns into ashes which was being swept away by the wind. For the innocence and naivete during my youthfulness was constantly abducted by darkness and heartaches; leaving “life” only as empty bottle waiting to be filled up with pebbles and waters. For I know that life is not that easy (may be for some it was) and as for this very moment of my life I feel that life is the co-existence of emptiness and vice versa.

As I go on with my schematic plan for my future and for me to unfurl those layers, I came across to meet various facets of challenges that “LIFE” has to offer. Going through with Grief, Anger, Anxiety and Betrayal is like riding into a roller coaster without a seat belt; the feeling  of fear and danger while clinging so hard to the handrails and exasperatedly breathing at  my very own seat, so as to survive the “death thrilling” ride – A trip that only a few will dare to take up. Well, that is my survival for the past years. It was never easy as they say… It was not a bed full of roses. There are times when I really hate myself for I am very much capable of being hurt and depressed. Even the slightest touch of winds that blows into my skin makes me tremble in despair. There are times when I questioned God about my existence, my purpose why I am still alive. Living despite all my love ones’ are departing one by one. Leaving me all alone with these kind of life…A life that is tampered and broken. Sometimes when I feel that disparity and misfortunes
embraces me, I keep asking God Why He let me live with this kind of life that I have? Why there are some people who seem that life is so light and so smooth while sailing? Why there some people who have everything in this world -All the comforts, all the material things, all the love and everything! But on the on the hand, despite those questions that clutters my mind; my faith and hope to God still hovers. For there is one voice within me that says “everything will turn out right” that God has plans for me in HIS right time and  place. So, while I am patiently waiting for that moment, I still have to carry on with my sword and start battling again so as to lifting those layers and eventually pull in the inner “core of life.”

As I walk through empty roads, my minds retract a famous line from Joseph Campbell that says: "We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the life that is waiting for us."  Savoring those lines keeps me enlightened somehow that despite all the things that happens in my life, HOPE and FAITH is still there, willing to accompany me in journeying LIFE. Leaving my past behind is much more than forgiving myself with my past mistakes and accepting my present situations, so as with my failures and broken dreams. Struggling those layers means leaving both the good and bad things behind us. It does not mean that I have forgotten them but instead, It simply means that I do not cling to them either because I feel guilty for what I have done, or because I am very happy about the things that I have achieved. Those things forbid us and limit us to embrace the future. Everything in the past has a tendency to bind us emotionally. So I have to unchain myself from my past and move on to the future.

Despite the predicament of living my life alone I am still determined and unchanged of my beliefs that there is always LIFE after my battle. I still believe that as I continue to adversities in LIFE I will still be able to reach the “very CORE” of Life… The “core” that will reveal the secrets of my existence; the Core that will bring back or if not exactly will convey happiness and eventually heal all the wounds that I endure after battling in LIFE.
